Two used Bentley Bentaygas can look broadly similar in a search result while offering noticeably different cabin experiences. The update announced in June 2020 is a useful dividing line for buyers who care about phone integration, rear-seat comfort and everyday controls. Start with the generation of equipment, then investigate the individual specification.
This is a guide to an established facelift. It does not imply every later Bentayga has identical features or that a current listing’s model-year label is sufficient identification.
Identify the update from several angles
Bentley’s June 30, 2020 launch release describes revised front and rear styling, new seats and trim, increased rear legroom and a 10.9-inch infotainment screen. It also announced wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
When screening a car remotely, request a straight-on dashboard photograph and clear front and rear exterior views. Match those with the VIN, factory equipment record and model year. A seller’s use of “updated” may refer to cosmetic changes, software or aftermarket equipment; ask exactly what it means.
Avoid making the screen the only test. Exterior photographs and build information provide an independent cross-check, while a live demonstration confirms that the cabin functions actually work.
Test your own phone
Bring the phone and apps you intend to use. Pair the device with the seller’s permission, check audio playback and make a brief test call if appropriate. Confirm navigation prompts and microphone clarity while parked before using any feature on the road.
Ask how existing owner accounts and stored personal data will be handled at handover. Have the selling retailer explain the supported transfer process and identify any connected services that require a subscription or separate activation. A feature that worked for the previous owner is worth verifying under the conditions you will inherit.
The press release describes the equipment at launch. It cannot confirm current service availability, compatibility with every phone or the condition of a specific vehicle. Those are demonstration and documentation questions for the candidate in front of you.
Count seats before comparing comfort
Bentayga listings can differ substantially in seating arrangement. Bentley’s original V8 introduction described four-, five- and seven-seat configurations. Consequently, a generic “luxury SUV” label leaves a major purchasing question unanswered.
Request photographs showing every seating row and the rear controls. Verify the fitted arrangement from the build record. Test the adjustment range with your usual occupants and place your normal luggage in the cargo area. Do this with the seats configured as you will use them, rather than relying on a maximum-volume figure measured with seats folded.
If you are comparing a standard-wheelbase example with an extended-wheelbase model, separate those candidates on your worksheet. Cabin space and equipment should be evaluated on the actual derivative, without assuming that every facelift car received the same rear compartment.
Let the specification shape the offer
Prepare a short list of required features and mark each as verified, missing or still unconfirmed. Include screen operation, cameras, seat functions and climate controls. Ask for repair estimates where a feature is inoperative, and keep those allowances distinct from tires, service and transport.
A more useful Bentayga comparison starts with the cabin you need. Once the facelift, seating arrangement and functioning equipment are established, differences in price and mileage become much easier to interpret.
